Bromport Steamship Co

Bromport-FlagBromport Steamship Co. Ltd. This shipping Company was one of many based in the port of Liverpool, England. The company, which operated from 1916 to 1923, was a subsidiary of Lever Brothers started by William Lever .

The first tug built by the Hernry Robb shipbuilders was the tug WESTMERE (Ship No 16) which was in fact the first real ship built by the company, as up to then they had won orders for dumb barges and pontoons, along with doing conversion and repair work on ships which had been damaged during World War I.

This little tug was the first in a long line of tugs for which the shipyard was to become very well known for, and indeed they went on to build over 60 tugs during the period that they were in business in Leith.
