Ships History
The Screw Steamer CS NORSEMAN was another from the early years of building at the Leith Shipyards of Ramage & Fergusons Shipbuilders, some of the finest looking ships ever built came from the shipyard at Leith.
This was a ship with a very interesting history built as a Cable Laying Ship, She was the second cable ship to be given this name.
 Built for the Western and Brazilian Telegraph Company. Fitted out with cable machinery, two cable tanks and twin bow sheaves by Telcon. Transferred to the Western Telegraph Company in 1899, and in 1904 was renamed Norse. Sold out of the cable world in 1907 and had a further five owners and name changes before being scrapped in 1925 (For more on the CS NORSEMAN and the Atlantic Cable laying see the website at
