Boat Building Services

This service has been developed to provide all the design and production requirements for the successful build of boats up to 25m and should be of particular interest to all smaller boat builders be they Private Companies or Private individuals looking to build the boat of there dreams.

We will save you time and costs no matter what material you decide to build with our specially developed computer programs work the same.

The real time savings are derived from the benefit of provision of full CNC files produced to provide some of the following.

Previously with CAD (computer Aided Design) the time taken to do this type of lofting work would have been very costly and time consuming but with our specifically ship/boat design/lofting programs this is easily achieved in a much shorter time than could be done in the past, making our process very cost effective and very accurate.

Initial design study and feasibility (all carried out to Lloyds Classifications)

We can provide cutting files for the moulds required to build your GRF boat, all support structure as well as the required finished and faired internal mould is produced using our experience in the design and lofting of larger ships this technology and processing is expertly transferred to the production of smaller boats.

Your mould once cut will only require a small amount of fairing compound to finish off at the joins, to produce the required fair surface and your lay up can then begin safe in the knowledge that the finished faired surface is going to be correct.

We can produce the same cutting files for many different types of small craft, whether your boat is for use in the Fishing/Sports or leisure industry or work boats in wood, GRP or Aluminium to Steel we will save you time and costs.

Contact us today to find out how we can help you with your build project.

Single hull boats to Catamarans. We are based in North America and in Europe and can work with you no matter where in the world you wish to build your boat.

From one off's to full production runs of many similar types of boat we will save you time and money.

Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures

Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures

This proceedings contains the papers presented at The 8th International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures held in China in September 2001 - the first PRADS of the 21st Century. The overall aim of PRADS symposia is to advance the design of ships and other floating structures as a professional discipline and science by exchanging knowledge and promoting discussion of relevant topics in the fields of naval architecture and marine and offshore engineering. In line with the aim, in welcoming the new era, this Symposium is intended to increase international co-operation and give a momentum for the new development of design and production technology of ships and other floating structures for efficiency, economy, safety, and environmental production. The main themes of this Symposium are Design Synthesis, Production, Hydrodynamics, Structures and Materials of Ships and Floating Systems. Proposals for over 270 papers from 26 countries and regions within the themes were received for PRADS 2001, and about 170 papers were accepted for presentation at the symposium. With the high quality of the proposed papers the Local Organising Committee had a difficult task to make a balanced selection and to control the total number of papers for fitting into the allocated time schedule approved by the Standing Committee of PRADS. Volume I covers design synthesis, production and part of hydrodynamics. Volume II contains the rest of hydrodynamics, and structures and materials.

This modern looking Cameraman was produced using our CNC Mould Kit

You only need to have access to a CNC machine (Most good supply shops have this facility if you don't have this yourself) to produce the full kit ready for assembly, the files come with all information provided along with datum lines and reference lines to help ensure an accurate build of your mould.

The structure for your mould is easy to assemble and fully marked out to aid the process. Complete with reference lines and datum’s to aid the build.

All parts for the finished surface are developed and CNC cut to provide a serious time saving for you the builder.

Some pretty complex shapes are easy to put together as the above photograph clearly shows and also note just how accurate the joins are, with a little fairing compound this surface will soon be ready for the lay-up process and takes a lot less time than other methods of mould building.

Should you only require finished dimensions for your mould and you build yourself then this can also be quickly supplied to you, sent as a file or printed out on Myler for you to see and build your mould.

Contact us for prices and your requirements.

Self build of your mould is easily provided from the 3D model wire-frame with all the required station moulds fully dimensioned.

For such as production fishing boats we offer savings in time with much more accuracy than can be achieved by using some of the other methods of building in GRP.

Every part can be developed just as it would be if using steel or Aluminium, each part is then assembled with very good accuracy and the cost in using glue is offset by the savings in time, to produce a very good quality boat using modern production methods also offering the scaleable savings with the more boats built the less time they will take while never compromising on quality.

All built on the mould information supplied along with every drawing you would need to ensure a successful build.

We provide the exact same service should you wish to build your boat in Aluminium of Steel, everything for your build by way of design and lofting is supplied.

This picture of a 7.5m Fishing Vessel was all developed out by our method and resulted in big savings in cost and time, not to mention very little waste.

Please contact us through the website initially for further information and to register your interest.

No matter what material you decide to build out of we can help from a small wooden boat of 4m to a full size schooner or Brigantine, it can all be produced in the same manner and the time savings and accuracy are well worth considering.

You will see from the above picture that this 3D hull for a full boat mould involves a lot of work and for this reason we have to insist on a 25% deposit down before any work is started.

For the small commercial boat builder we can offer the competitive edge required in a tight market, do not hesitate to give The Loftsman a call or email in the first instance
