Ships History
Another classic Ship built at the Leith Shipyards of Hawthorns & Co, Shipbuilders and Engineers she was a Cox & King designed Steam Yacht.
This classic luxury steam yacht was built at the Hawthorns yard which at the time was based on the Water of Leith and it would be a further 10 years before they could get into the Shipbuilders row on the shore of the Firth of Fourth.
This steam yacht is not to be confused with the first SURF I which was built by Ramage & Ferguson some four years prior.
SURF II served in the First World War and was also called up for service in the Second World War, she then went into commercial service around 1950 and there the story stops for now.

SURF II, hired yacht, Pendant No 057. Built 1902, 496grt/560TM. Armament: 2-12pdr. In service 25.2.15-4.4.19.

May have served as wireless-equipped A/P Group Leader or in special yacht squadrons, at home or in Mediterranean.

Served in WW2.
