Ships History
Another classic old steam trawler built at the Leith Shipyards of J.Cran & Co, Shipbuilders and Engineers this shipyard was to go on and produce many fine fishing vessels and tugs during it's time of operation.
The steam trawler BASS ROCK managed to survive the ravages of the first World War and continued fishing for many different owners, the Second World War was one year old when she was fishing of the coast of Kinsale in Ireland during the September of 1940 she was attacked by German aircraft and sunk by bombs with the loss of four men with the rest of her eight man crew managing to survive the attack.
To be continued.
We try here to give as full an account of her history as time and research permits, if you know of missing info or you have any photographs of her, then please get in touch and we shall update her story as we go along.
